Royals Defeated by Division Leading Saints

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer Royals hosted the St. Clair Saints for a Saturday afternoon clash. Saturday's fixture featured two of the top teams in the OCAA West last season.

From the opening whistle, the Saints marched forward. For the first time this season, Redeemer found themselves on the defensive in the match. The Saints' relentless offence developed several high-danger scoring opportunities, but were shut down by the Royals' star goalkeeper, Jasmine DeBoer. DeBoer tallied seven saves in the first half.

St. Clair's offence was finally rewarded following a penalty kick goal in the thirty-third minute. St. Clair followed up the opener with a free-kick goal in the forty-fifth minute.

Redeemer was unable to build momentum with the continual pressure from the Saints. St. Clair extended their lead by adding two more unanswered early in the second half.

The Royals tallied a goal of their own thanks to Talia Vreugdenhil, who headed in a corner kick delivered by Emily Walraven

The Saints held on to a 4-1 victory over the Royals. Redeemer is back in action on Wednesday night as they host the Conestoga Condors.
