Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Royals Drop First Game of Second Semester

HAMILTON, ON - The Redeemer Royals men's basketball team battled back after an early deficit but ultimately fell 94–74 to a strong Mohawk Mountaineers squad in OCAA action.

Mohawk, who entered the second semester with a 6–2 record, came out with pace and efficiency, jumping out to a 35–13 lead after the opening quarter. The Royals struggled to find rhythm early but showed resilience in the second quarter, responding with improved defensive intensity and more consistent offensive execution.

Redeemer outplayed Mohawk in the second frame, closing the gap by 12 points and heading into halftime trailing just 49–39. The momentum shift gave the Royals a chance to make it a contest against one of the OCAA's top teams.

The Mountaineers reasserted control in the third quarter, executing efficiently on both ends of the floor to extend their lead. Redeemer continued to compete and put together a strong fourth quarter, but the early hole proved too much to overcome.

Despite the loss, the Royals' second- and fourth-quarter performances highlighted their ability to respond and compete with one of the conference's stronger programs.

Redeemer will look to carry that fight forward as they return to action this Wednesday on the road against the Conestoga Condors.
