LONDON, ON - The Redeemer Royals women's basketball team dropped a 69–46 decision to the Fanshawe Falcons on the road in London, Ont., on Saturday afternoon. The game also served as a special Royals on the Road event, hosted by Redeemer, where Athletics partnered with the Alumni Office to connect with former Redeemer students at a varsity sporting event.
Redeemer found themselves playing from behind early against a strong Fanshawe side that set the tone from the opening tip. The Falcons' perimeter shooting proved to be a major difference, as they knocked down 10 three-pointers compared to Redeemer's three from beyond the arc.
Despite the final score, the Royals once again showcased their strength on the glass, winning the rebounding battle.
Talia Vreugdenhil was instrumental in that effort, pulling down a game-high 15 rebounds to anchor Redeemer inside and generate second-chance opportunities.
Offensively, the Royals were led by
Sydney Lazenby, who continued her standout second-semester performance. Lazenby poured in a game-high 19 points, further cementing her strong form as she now averages 19.25 points per game this semester.
