Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Usuomon Leads Royals with 17 in Loss to Hawks

ETOBICOKE, ON - The Redeemer Royals men's basketball team faced a tough test on the road Wednesday night, visiting the defending national champion Humber Hawks.

Humber set the tone early, opening the game with five straight three-pointers to build a sizeable first-quarter lead. Redeemer responded a few minutes later, settling into the game and beginning to find offensive rhythm.

The Royals closed the opening quarter strong, rallying late and cutting into the deficit, capped off by a deep buzzer-beating three from Jackson Thackwray to end the frame.

Redeemer remained competitive through the first half, trading stretches with the Hawks before heading into the break trailing 50–34.

Humber extended its lead slightly in the third quarter, adding three points to its advantage. The Royals showed resilience in the fourth, outscoring the Hawks over the final ten minutes, but the early gap proved too much to overcome as Humber secured an 87–71 win.

Jason Usuomon led the Royals offensively, finishing with 17 points in a strong individual performance.

Redeemer will look to build on its second-half push as it continues conference play.
