Royals Outlast Mountain Rival

Lady Royals enter Christmas Break with win over Mountaineers

The Lady Royals Women's Volleyball team enters the Christmas Break having won 4 of their last 5 matches and now sit in 3rd place in the tough OCAA West Conference. Redeemer's record sits at 6-3.

The latest victim to fall to the Royals was their mountain rival Mohawk College on Thursday night. The Royals handed the Mountaineers their 6th loss of the season in a 3-1 win.

While the match was tight throughout the night, Redeemer closed out the match when they needed to. Game scores were 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-18.

Curtiss Straatsma led Redeemer with a game-high 13 kills and 16 total points. Charlene De Vries added 14 points for the Lady Royals.

The Royals continue to prove they are a team to contend with moving into the second half of the season as they position themselves for a potential spot in the OCAA Playoffs.

The Royals will travel to Tampa, Florida over the Christmas Break for an exhibition tournament from December 29th-January 3rd as they begin to prepare for the second half of the 2013/14 season.
