Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 A pair of win streaks were snapped on Wednesday night as the Royals traveled to Humber College for a set of midweek matches against the Hawks. The Royals struggled against the home team, being swept in both women's and men's games. Both Redeemer teams saw their 3 game win streaks come to an end.
Despite the 3-0 loss for the Lady Royals (OCAA 7-4), Redeemer appears to continue to gain ground on one of the top teams in the country. Holding leads late in both the first set (15-11) and the second set (18-14), the Royals are beginning to believe that no team is out of reach in the province. The ability for Redeemer to close out sets when they are up will certainly be the focus for the Royals as they hope to make a deep run in the OCAA playoffs.
Redeemer certainly made the #3 ranked team in the country sweat a bit on Wednesday night, drawing out the first set to 27-25 and the second to 25-22 against the Hawks (OCAA 10-0). Unfortunately for the Royals, a deflated group took the court in the 3rd set losing 25-13 as the team lacked intensity throughout.

After a big win for the Men's team this past Saturday, the Royals (OCAA 7-4) were hoping to continue their strong play and possibly extend their 3 game win streak with a solid game against the #2 ranked team in Canada. However, the Royals struggled all night in the Humber gym, falling behind early, and finding it difficult to match up with the Hawks (OCAA 9-1) in the game.
Redeemer fell behind early in the first set as Humber cruised to a 25-10 win. The Royals found a bit of a spark in the 2nd and 3rd matches as they adjusted their passing, keeping the Hawks on their toes. Both the 2nd and 3rd games were more balanced as both teams battled point for point but the Royals were never able to grab a lead losing 25-21 and 25-17.
The Royals have a quick turnaround as they now prepare for the Sheridan Bruins on Saturday. Redeemer travels to Oakville for the Saturday afternoon games set to get underway at 2pm and 4pm.
