It was the start the Royals were looking for on Tuesday night as Redeemer's volleyball teams opened up the OCAA season. Redeemer traveled to Conestoga College in the first official match of the 2014-2015 volleyball season. Redeemer outlasted the Condors 3-1 in both contests to capture their first wins of the season.
The Women's team defeated Conestoga 25-16, 25-10, 21-25, 25-17. Redeemer's
Kimberly Stewart (Hope, BC) led the Lady Royals with a record 8 aces in the match . Stewart also added 28 assists.
Curtiss Straatsma (Brampton, ON) had a game high 9 kills and added 3 aces and 1 block.
Stewart's 8 aces ties the all-time Redeemer record set by Redeemer alumni Meagan Hultink. Hultink had 8 aces on January 31st, 2009 against Canadore College.
The Royals are on the road again Saturday at Sheridan College before returning home for their opener on October 31st.
