The Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball team finally got the monkey of their back and grabbed their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Royals led the Lambton Lions from start to finish in a emphatic win at home 92-69.
The win came on the heels of a dissapointing loss on Friday night in which the Royals fell to the St. Clair Saints 74-65 in a very tight match.
The Royals took the lead early and held on for the first half before blowing the game wide open in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Lions 24-10.
Calvin Turnbull (Burlington, ON) led the Royals with an impressive 19 points and 17 rebounds. Redeemer's
John Woldue (London, ON) also added 19 points.
Josh de Schiffert (Strathroy, ON),
Jacob Walda (Woodstock, ON), and
Taylor de Schiffert (London, ON) all hit double-digit points as well as the Royals put up their highest point total of the season.
On Friday night, Turnbull also paced Redeemer with a double-double. His 22 points and 11 rebounds were both game-highs.
The Royals will now turn their attention to a very important road trip to Sault Ste. Marie this weekend. Redeemer will be in search of two wins in two days as the team will play back-to-back matches against the 1-4 Sault Cougars.
