The Women's Volleyball win streak climbs to three after a 3-0 win over the Mohawk Mountaineers on Friday night. Redeemer defeated the visitors 25-21, 25-12, 25-21 to run their OCAA league record to 5-2. The Royals dominated from start to finish against the Hamilton rivals securing another victory for the women's team.
Mary Christiaanse led the Royals with 8 kills, 4 aces, and 2 blocks in the match while Kimberly Stewart had 21 assists.
Redeemer, the #5 ranked team in the Province, whill look to close out their first semester with a pair of wins this weekend at home against Cambrian and Boreal. The Royals will look to improve their record to 7-2 with victories against the 2-5 Golden Shield and 0-7 Vipers.
The Men's team fell to the Mountaineers 3-1 in a tough battle at the Redeemer University College Gymnasium. The Royals kept pace with their top ranked neighbours taking a dramatic 2nd set, 30-28 to even the match at 1-1. However, Mohawk recovered any momentum Redeemer had by dominating the 3rd set 25-10, and eventually winning the match with a 25-20 4th set win.
A home date with the Cambrian Golden Shield and Boreal Vipers is ahead for Redeemer as the men's team will look to end their slide and get back into the win column. Cambrian visits Redeemer with a 2-5 record while Boreal is winless with a 0-7 record.
