Box Score Despite a loss on Thursday night to the Niagara Knights in their final match of 2015, the Redeemer Royals women's volleyball team proved their are one to watch out for in the second half. A tough 3-2 loss to the #2 ranked team in the Province should give the Royals the confidence they need to get back on track in January.
A medal favourite at the beginning of the season, the Royals have struggled to maintain their consistency and finish the first half of the season with a 4-5 record. Capable of beating any team in the league, the Royals will look to surprise the OCAA West in the second semester if they can find the form they are capable of.
The Royals boast two of the most prolific scorers in the OCAA in
Curtiss Straatsma and Charlene DeVries and they both recorded double-digit points on Thursday night against Niagara. Straatsma led all scorers with 17 points while DeVries had 13.
Set scores were 25-27, 25-15, 25-27, 25-23, 15-2.
Redeemer opens up their second semester on the road against St. Clair on January 9th. Redeemer defeated the Saints 3-2 at home in Ancaster when they met in October.
