After a disappointing draw on Thursday night to the winless Lambton Lions, the Redeemer Royals needed a result against Mohawk last night to guarantee a spot in the OCAA soccer playoffs. A first half goal was the difference as Redeemer grabbed a valuable 3 points with a 1-0 win on a wet and cold Fall night. 

The win gives the Royals a a hold of fourth place in the west division, guaranteeing Redeemer a trip to the postseason. The victory added the needed separation between Redeemer and Mohawk, who sits in fifth place. The Royals move to 3-3-2 and 11 points while Mohawk falls to 2-6-1 and remains at 7 points. 

With two games remaining, Redeemer will now set their sights on catching 3rd place St. Clair or 2nd place Niagara. Only 1st place Fanshawe is out of reach for Redeemer. 

The Royals are on the road to Lambton (0-7-1) on Saturday for a 3pm kickoff.
