EXTRA TIME GOAL SENDS ROYALS BACK INTO WIN COLUMN

Redeemer secures win against Saints in final minute of added time

The Redeemer Royals Men's Soccer team has a flair for the dramatic and once again proved it on Friday night. A last minute goal, in extra-time against the Saint Clair Saints, sent the home crowd into a frenzy, and secured a full three points for the Royals. The last minute marker was the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory for Redeemer.

The Men's team continues to show heir ability to play tough until the final whistle, and have seen great benefits from it. Backed by their home crowd, Redeemer has now recorded late goals in 3 of their 4 home matches to secure 7 total points (2 wins, 1 tie)

Early in September, the Royals scored two late goals (81st, 90th) against Fanshawe after being down 2-0, giving them a 2-2 tie. Their next match against Mohawk saw the men's team net the winner in the 85th minute after scoring the equalizer in the 77th minute. On Friday night, Redeemer's Ryley Cribbin took advantage of a misplayed ball back to St. Clair's keeper, beating him to the ball and knocking it into the empty net despite being knocked off his feet in a desperation slide tackle by the Saints goalie. The goal came in the 90th minute.

Noah Bouius had the shutout for the Royals, his first as a member of the men's team.

Next up, the Royals play their final home game of the season on Thursday against the Lambton Lions before heading out on the road for three straight to end regular season play.
