After dropping the first set of Friday night's men's volleyball game 25-10 to Hamilton rival Mohawk, the Royals men's volleyball team looked like they could be in for quite a weekend. Instead of letting the slow start have a negative impact, Redeemer came storming back, winning the next 3 games (25-13, 25-14, 25-20) to knock of the Mountaineers 3-1.
On Saturday, the Royals kept rolling with a 3-1 victory over the Conestoga Condors. Set scores were 26-28, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16.Â
Redeemer's outside hitters led the team in scoring in both wins. Mitch Harris and
Linden Bontkes had 12 and 10 points respectively on Friday, while Harris (13pts), Bontkes (16pts), and Jeff Ekeanyanwu (14pts) all had double-digit totals on Saturday.
Pearson Stiller added 61 assists over the two games.Â
With two more wins on the weekend, the Royals have quietly run their record to a very impressive 6-2 with one game remaining before Christmas. The Royals will look to enter the break at 7-2 when they travel to Niagara College Thursday to square off against the 4-3 Knights.Â
The Royals currently sit in 2nd place in the OCAA West behind the undefeated Fanshawe Falcons.
