The first day of competition ended with two players going undefeated. Nicky Aung (OCAA Host, Seneca College) opened the championship by defeating the Men's Player of the Year, Owen Kurvits 21-16, 21-10 before defeating both ACAA and ACAC Wildcard in straight sets. Equally impressive on day one was reigning CCAA Bronze Medalist Graydon Robb (PACWEST, Vancouver Island University) who went 3-0 in wins over ACAC, ACAC Wildcard and ACAA. Sitting at 2-1, Kurvits is very much in contention for a spot in the semi-final with wins over ACAC and ACAA to go with a loss against Aung.
