ROYALS PUSH UNBEATEN STREAK TO 4, SWEEP SAULT STE. MARIE ROAD TRIP

Royals handle Cougars on weekend back-to-back for 4th win in a row

After a rocky start to the season, the Royals have found their grove. Winners of 4 in a row, Redeemer outscored their weekend opponent 188-99 for back-to-back wins Friday and Saturday.

With the wins, Redeemer improves their record to 5-2 and hold a share of 2nd spot in the OCAA West division.

After knocking off the top ranked Bruins and Falcons in their previous matches, the Royals found themselves on the road against the winless Cougars. Losers of their first 6 matches of the season, the home team couldn't keep up with the high-flying Royals.

In the first match of the double-header, the Royals jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first quarter. Armeen Fazelipour had 9 points in the opening frame for Redeemer, shooting 4-5 from the field.

With everyone on the Royals able to get minutes in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, Redeemer extended their lead to 61-41 heading into the 4th. Redeemer showed their depth in the 4th quarter as the Royals had 6 non-starters combine for 17 points to finish the match. The final score was 90-60

Spencer Kerssies finished with a game-high 26 points and 15 rebounds. Fazelipour added 19 points and 11 rebounds.

Saturday's contest saw 4 Royals hit double-figures in a strong 98-39 victory. Redeemer shot 50% from the field over the match, backed by an incredible 2nd quarter in which the Royals shot 75%.

Nick Green finished with a game-high 18 points, hitting 4 3-pointers on 7 attempts.

Redeemer will look to extend their win streak on Saturday when they host the Conestoga Condors Saturday night at 8:00pm.
