With the first half of the volleyball season wrapped up, the Royals will soak up some much needed rest after the grind of a busy first semester. The Royals defeated the Conestoga Condors Wednesday night in their final match of 2018.
Redeemer dominated the match from start to finish, winning 25-17, 25-15, and 25-14.Â
First-year
Jasmyn Stoffers had a career night, totaling 18 points. Stoffers had 10 kills in the 3 sets and added 8 aces.Â
Redeemer won't return now to the court till early January when they resume competition with exhibition play, before the league schedule gets back underway on January 11th.Â
Despite the needed rest period, the break comes at a bit of an unfortunate time for the women's volleyball team. Winners of their last 3, Redeemer is playing their best volleyball of the season right now. The challenge for Coach Douwes and the rest of the women's volleyball staff, will be to keep that momentum rolling in January after over a month off from league play.Â
The Royals have not dropped a set over their last 3 matches, and although their opponents have been teams below them in the standings, the wins have given Redeemer the opportunity to grow in confidence and ability. Redeemer will look to take the positives from their strong finish to the semester, and use it to help propel them up the standings when the second half of the season resumes.Â
The Women's Volleyball team will travel to Sudbury on January 11th-12th to face the Boreal Vipers and Cambrian Golden Shield in back-to-back weekend matches. Redeemer swept the first meeting of the season at home, winning 3-0 against both opponents.Â
