The top eight teams who will compete at the 2018 OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship have been determined. After a 3-0 sweep of the La Cite Coyotes in front of their home crowd on Saturday, the Royals secured their spot in the main event. Redeemer now knows that their opponent will be the #2 ranked team in the OCAA East, the George Brown Huskies. 

The Championship will be held at the Georgian Athletic Centre on the Barrie campus of Georgian College from Feb. 22-24, 2018. Joining Redeemer and George Brown with aspirations of Provincial Gold will be the Fanshawe Falcons, Fleming Knights, Humber Hawks, Conestoga Condors, Niagara Knights and the host Georgian Grizzlies.

The Championship kicks off with four quarter-finals match-ups on Thursday, Feb. 22 beginning at 1 p.m. Redeemer and George Brown will square off in the opening match. 

Redeemer enters the Championship with a 13-5 record, strong enough for a 3rd place finish in the OCAA West. The Huskies, 2nd in the East, finished the season with an identical 13-5 record. 

Not much separates the teams entering Thursday's match. Both Redeemer and George Brown are 7-2 on the road this season and both went 3-2 in their last 5 matches of the season. D'Art Jackman leads the Huskies offensively with 4.0 ppg while the Royals counter with their best attacker, Linden Bontkes, averaging 3.8 ppg. 

The winner of the quarterfinal match will move on to the semi-finals and play the winner of quarterfinal #2, featuring the Fanshawe Falcons and the Fleming Knights. 

Friday's schedule features the two championship and two consolation semi-finals games with the tournament concluding on Saturday with the consolation final at 12 p.m., the bronze medal game at 2 p.m. and the gold medal championship final taking place at 5 p.m.
