After a solid season opening win against the Mountaineers Saturday evening, the Royals were in tough Wednesday night in their home openers. Redeemer welcomed the defending champion Fanshawe Falcons.
Â
Despite being back-to-back OCAA Bronze medalists, Redeemer has struggled against Fanshawe. The Falcons have owned the Royals, winning the last 14 matches. Redeemer's last win against the Falcons was January 25th, 2013.Â
The tough task of containing the high-flying Falcons became a bit more difficult after the visitors took the first two sets off the Royals. The set scores from the first two games were 25-18 and 25-20.Â
However, the Royals settled down in the 3rd and got back into the match, giving the loud home crowd lots to cheer about. A convincing 25-20 win in the 3rd cut the visitors lead in half. The 4th set was tight ,until midway through where the Falcons took control, halting any hope of the Royals forcing a 5th set.Â
With the loss, Redeemer's record drops to 1-1, while Fanshawe improves to 3-1.

Â
Brayden Stoffers was impressive once again for the Royals, recording 17 total points in the 4 sets. After two games, Stoffers leads the league in kills and kills per game.Â
James Pratt had a team-high 16 points for the Falcons.Â

Â
Redeemer will now prepare for a trip to Windsor on Saturday to face the undefeated St. Clair Saints (2-0). Game time is 4:00pm. Â
