It was a quick afternoon of volleyball Saturday afternoon in Windsor as a pair of sweeps highlighted Redeemer's 2nd road trip of the season. Unfortunately, the Royals were only on the winning end of one sweep.
Redeemer's Women's Volleyball team entered the match against the Saints looking for their first win of the season. Despite a gritty performance, the Royals were swept 3-0 by the undefeated Saints (3-0). Saturday's set scores were 25-21, 25-23, 25-21.
Redeemer was looking to rebound from opening losses to the Mohawk Mountaineers and the Fanshawe Falcons. Facing another difficult opponent in the Saints, the Royals struggled to close out sets. All three sets were tight until the final points where the Saints were able to take over, including the 2nd set where the Royals were up 23-22.Â
Abby Sluys and Jasmyn led the Royals with 9 points each.Â
The loss keeps the Royals out of the win column for another week. However, Redeemer's 3 losses have come to opponents with an 11-0 overall record. Redeemer will face their first opponent of the season Wednesday at home who is not undefeated. The Royals welcome the 1-1 Sheridan Bruins.Â
The Redeemer Men's Volleyball team returned the favor to the home side on Saturday afternoon, sweeping the Saints 3-0. Redeemer improved their record to 2-1, with their only loss coming to the defending National Champions. The Royals handed the Saints their first loss of the season, dropping their record to 2-1.Â
Redeemer rebounded from a home loss to the Falcons on Wednesday with a dominant win on the road. The set scores in Saturday's match were 25-18, 25-21, 25-15.
Brayden Stoffers once again led the attack for the Royals, registering 13 points.
Daniel Wolfert had 25 assists in the win.Â
Redeemer returns to the court Wednesday at 8:00pm to battle the 0-2 Sheridan Bruins.Â
