POOR 4TH QUARTER SINKS ROYALS AS HOME WIN STREAK SNAPPED

Royals outscored 30-19 in the 4th in loss to Bruins

It looked like the Redeemer Royals home win streak would continue after building an 11 point lead with 7 minutes to play Wednesday in OCAA Men's Basketball. The Royals hosted the 4-1 Sheridan Bruins in the midweek matchup, with Redeemer also boasting a 4-1 record.

Despite the lead, the Royals struggled to close out the 4th quarter, giving up 30 points to the Bruins. An 8-0 run by Sheridan immediately after the Royals had built their biggest lead of the match, spurred the comeback for the visitors. Spencer Kerssies kept the Royals in the quarter, scoring 12 points in the final frame. Kerssies finished with a team-high 28 points.

Nick Campbell had a game-high 30 points for the Bruins and became the Bruins All-time leading scorer.

For the Royals, it was their first home loss since January of last season. Redeemer had won 7 straight coming into tonight's match, including 3 to start the 2019-2020 season. It was also Redeemer's first back-to-back losses since February of last season after losing to Fanshawe on the weekend.

With the loss, Redeemer drops to 4-2 on the season after starting 4-0. The Royals will look to get back into the win column on November 21st when they return to the court against the Niagara Knights.
