Royals women's soccer falls 3-2 in OCAA Crossover

SUDBURY, ON - The Redeemer University women's soccer team (7-4-2 overall) had their season come to and end as they dropped a tough 3-2 decision to Cambrian Golden Shield in the OCAA Crossover postseason game on the road Saturday afternoon.
Cambrian opened the scoring three minutes into the contest as Nora Dzuirban setup Grace Cranston for her first goal of the postseason.
Redeemer evened the game 1-1 in the 20th minute, as second year
Esther DeHaan (Smithville, ON) scored on a penalty kick beating Golden Shield goalkeeper Laura Hill.Â
The Royals took a 2-1 lead in the 55th minute as second year
Ellie de Jong (Hamilrton, ON) found third yearÂ
Avery Johnston (Pickering, ON) who buried it past Hill for her first of the playoffs.
In front of the hometown crowd, the Golden Shield answered with back to back goals eight minutes apart to advance to the OCAA Championships in Oshawa. Prezzley Hutchinson scored in the 75th minute and then setup Kaitlyn Pressley in the 83rd for the game winner.
In goal, Redeemer fourth year starterÂ
Lilly Brown (Stoney Creek, ON) suffered the loss registering three saves. Hill recorded two saves for the win.
