Royals men's soccer defeats Knights 3-1 on Senior Day

Ancaster, ON - The Redeemer men's soccer team (3-4-1 overall, 2-4-1 OCAA West) had their three game losing streak come to an end, as they defeated the Niagara College Knights by the score of 3-1 Wednesday night in front of a hometown crowd.
Prior to the game the Royals honoured their two graduating seniors captain
Matthew Walraven (Burlington, ON) and goalkeeper
Mateo Sutic (Mississauga, ON). Both players families were in attendance for the celebration of their Royals careers.
Late in the opening half, Walraven setup first yearÂ
Rayan Barbosa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) for his fourth goal of the season to take a 1-0 lead..
In the 51st minute, Walraven drilled it past Niagara starter Anthony Argueta for his team leading seventh goal of the campaign with first yearÂ
Derek Proulx (Burlington, ON) adding the assist.
Less than two minute later (52:01), Niagara cut the lead to one as Noah Vogel found Isaac DeWaard to make it a one goal game 2-1.
Redeemer would regain the two goal lead (3-1) in the 65th minute as second year Gerritt Oldjans (Dundas, ON) buried it past Argeuta for the insurance marker.
In goal, Sutic recorded seven saves putting his season total at 53. Argueta registered 10 saves in the loss.
With the win, Redeemer moves into sixth place (2-4-1) in the OCAA West Division with three regular season games remaining.
The Royals next game is Friday, October 7th at 8pm when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers.
