Redeemer women's soccer knocks off No. 6 ranked Niagara 3-2

Ancaster, ON - The No. 10 ranked Redeemer women's soccer team (5-2-2 overall, 3-2-2 OCAA) knocked off the No. 6 OCAA ranked Niagara College Knights by the score of 3-2 on Senior Night at David Mantel Field.
Prior to the game, the Royals honoured their lone graduating student-athlete
Avery Johnston (Pickering, ON).
The Knights opened the scoring three minutes into the opening half, as Rachel Looby setup Sierra Boone who slid it past the hands of Redeemer starting goalkeeper
Lilly Brown (Stoney Creek, ON).

Emily Walraven (Burlington, ON) evened the game at 1-1 in the 37th minute, as she buried it past Niagara starter Sierra Naccarato for her third goal of the season.
Redeemer would take a 2-1 lead in the 50th minute, as second year
Ivana Kanisek (Mississauga, ON) recorded her first goal of the season with second year
Esther DeHaan (Smithville, ON) adding the assist.
Niagara's leading scorer Sydney Sica would bury it over the outstretched hands of Brown in the 55th minute to even the game 2-2.
In the 80th minute, the Royals added the eventual game winner off a corner kick. Second year
Paige Kunica (Georgetown, ON) put it into the box off the corner, and it was first year defender
Talia Vreugdenhil (Frankford, ON) using her six-foot frame and getting her head on it for her third goal of the season.
In goal, Brown registered six saves for the victory. Naccarato collected six saves in the loss.
With the win, Redeemer moves into fourth place (3-2-2) in the OCAA West Division with three regular season games remaining.
The Royals next game is Friday, October 7th at 6pm when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers.
