Redeemer women's soccer falls to No. 5 ranked Mountaineers
ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University Royals women's soccer team (5-3-2 overall, 3-3-2 OCAA) dropped a 2-1 decision to the No. 5 ranked OCAA Mohawk Mountaineers (3-0-5 OCAA) Friday night at home.
Mohawk opened the scoring in the 16th minute as Janelle Lammers setup Alyssa Glasbergen for her fourth goal of the season.Â
The Royals would even the score 1-1 in the 17th minute, as second year Esther DeHaan (Smithville, ON) beat the Mountaineers defense and put home her fifth goal of the season.
In the 57th minute, Mohawk would be rewarded a penalty kick and Aliya Cardona would step up and beat Redeemer starter Lilly Brown (Stoney Creek, ON) for the eventual game winner.
In goal, Brown recorded two saves for the loss. Mohawk's DeHaan would finish with six saves for her third win of the season.
The Royals close out the OCAA regular season on the road next weekend as they take on St. Clair and Lambton.Â
