Royals men's basketball falls to Humber 97-70

TORONTO, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team (2-6 OCAA) fell to the Humber Hawks (5-3 OCAA) by the score of 97-70 Saturday night on the road.

Early in the first quarter, the Royals trailed by two, 12-10, before Humber put together a 11-0 run over a three-minute span to go up 23-10. The Hawks led 27-14 at the end of one quarter. In the final two minutes of the second quarter, Redeemer went on a 9-2 run to cut the lead the to seven at the half, 46-39.

In the third quarter, The Royals would bring it within six points, 61-55, late in the quarter, but it was Humber answering with a 20-4 run to go up 81-59 midway through the fourth quarter on route to a home victory.

Leading the Redeemer offense was fourth year Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester,, NY) who registered 21 points, including 5-for-12 from the field and 9-for-11 from the free throw line. First year Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) recorded 15 points and five rebounds while second year Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) and third year Will Dykstra (Surrey, BC) added seven and six points respectively in the loss.

Humber was led by Dwayne Lambert-Cadore who added 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

As a team, the Royals went 22-for-70 (31.4%) from the field, 5-for-26 (19.2%) from three-point land and 21-for-29 (72.4%) from the charity stripe. Humber shot 47.2% (34-for-72) from the field, 24.1% (7-for-29) from beyond the arc and 73.3% (22-for-30) from the free throw line.

The Royals close out the OCAA first half of the season on December 3rd when they host the St. Clair Saints at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
