Royals women's basketball downs Mohawk 71-60

HAMILTON, ON - The Redeemer University women's basketball team defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers by the score of 71-60 Saturday afternoon at the David Braley Athletic & Recreation Complex.
Redeemer led by two after the opening 10 minutes and put together a 9-2 run in the second quarter to lead 29-21Â at the half. In the third, the Royals offense continued to click as they outscored the Mountaineers 26-17, on route to the 11 point road victory.
The Royals had three players in double figures led by fourth year
Jessica Angelini (Hamilton, ON) who recorded 22 points including 4-for-11 from beyond the arc and a perfect 10-for-10 at the free throw line. Second year
Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, ON) contributed with 17 points including 3-for-4 from long range. She also grabbed six rebounds. First year
Julia Stayshyn (Dundas, ON) finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the double-double. First year
Talia Vreugdenhil chipped in with eight points and 10 boards.
For the game, Redeemer went 23-for-65 (35.4%) from the field, 8-for-24 (33.3%) from long range and 17-for-21Â (81.0%) from the free throw line. Mohawk was held to 24-for-82 (29.3%) from the field (7-for-33) 21.2% from long range and 5-for-7 from the free throw line (71.4%).
The Royals next action is November 12th at 5pm when they host the Sheridan Bruins at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
