ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to the Conestoga Condors Friday night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
The Royals got off to a strong start taking the first set 25-20, before Conestoga answered taking the next three sets 25-15, 25-23, 25-18. With the loss, Redeemer falls to 4-5 in the OCAA West while Conestoga improves to 7-2.
Leading the Royals was first year
Kate DeJong (St. Thomas, ON) and second year
Rachel Annett (Melbourne, ON) who both registered 12 kills each. DeJong also added seven digs while Annett chipped in with eight digs. First year
Avery Surette (Barrie, ON) collected eight kills and added five digs. Second year setter
Julia Koksanowicz (Hamilton, ON) registered a season high 33 assists, nine digs and three aces while third year libero
Erica Bultje (Chatham, ON) recorded 12 digs in the loss.
Conestoga was led by the trio of Olivia Bender (14 kills, 12 digs) Bianca Marchetti (11 kills, 4 blocks) and Libby Bauman (10 kills, 10 digs).
For the match, The Royals hit .200 registering 41 kills with 18 errors on 115 attempts. The Condors had a .310 hitting percentage finishing with 41 kills with 10 errors on 100 attempts.Â
The Royals return to action in the new year when they will take part in the Durham College Adidas Cup January 6-7th in Oshawa.Â
