It was a tough fight for the Women's Basketball team against the Niagara Knights, who currently boast an undefeated record. The Royals entered the game holding a record of 2-2 looking to get back above .500 with a win.
Things started rocky for the Royals in the first quarter as they allowed the Knights to start the game on 0-6. However, the Royals lit a fire off of 3 back-to-back 3 pointers by
Avery Cline and
Jessica Angelini. The Royals came out of the quarter on top with a score of 22-19. It was still a back and forth battle for the rest of the half, with four lead changes in the second quarter, but the Royals were still on top, 39 - 33, at the half.
The Royals carried their strong play through the 3rd quarter, at one time holding a 13-point lead. The Knights made it a gritty 4th quarter. Steadily, the Knights chipped away at the lead the Royals held by taking advantage of several key turnovers and several late-game 3-pointers. The Knights took the lead with just 2 minutes left in play. The Royals could not keep the Knights down as they were able to maintain the lead for the remainder and outscore the Royals 78 - 69.

Maddison Cohoon had a strong defensive showing for the Royals with 14 rebounds. The lead scorer for the Knights was Jamira Rousseau with 18-points.
The Royals will finish their home stand this Friday as they take on the Fanshawe Falcons at 6 pm.
