After an extensive pre-season, the Redeemer Royals Men's Basketball team is ready to hit the court for the 2021-2022 season.
Â
Head Coach,
Jamie Girolametto, sets his sights high for the season ahead. "We, as everyone else, are very excited to compete once again. We have a very hardworking, deep and cohesive team. Our expectations of ourselves are very high. We expect to compete every night, both in practice and in games. We believe that if we come out with the right approach that this will be our most successful season yet. Our goal is to hang a banner in our gym and attend Nationals for the first time in school history."
Â
The Royals look to 5
th year guard, and 3x Defensive Player of the Year in the OCAA West,
Foster Brown (Stoney Creek, ON), to lead them this season. The Royals will also rely on leadership and contribution from 3
rd year guard
Goran Veselinovic (Hamilton, ON).
Â
The team also adds 3
rd year transfers
Blake Anderson (Hamilton, ON) and
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY), who have already been great additions and meshed well with the returning Royals. The rookie class brings in guards
Alex Naovarath (Woodstock, ON) and
Jackson Thackwray (Richmond, BC) whose performances in pre-season competition have been earning them big minutes and have made a strong positive impact on the team.
Â
The roster is also rounded out by Steven Adeymi,
Josh Carbonel and
Will Dykstra whose recent improvement in play helps to create one of the deepest rosters in the OCAA. Finally, the return of 2
nd year guard
Kian Durno from pre-season injury leaves the team feeling very optimistic.
Â
The Royals will travel to Brampton, ON Thursday night to tip off against the Sheridan Bruins at 8 pm. Don't miss the action and tune in on our
