Royals women's soccer blanks No. 9 Condors 1-0

KITCHENER, ON - The Redeemer University women's soccer team (3-1-2 overall, 1-1-2 OCAA) recorded their first win of the OCAA regular season with a 1-0 victory over the No. 9 ranked Conestoga Condors Thursday night on the road.
"The women pushed hard from start to finish, getting the chances early and finally finishing in the second half," said Royals head coach
Meaghan Rudd. "We did well to keep the pressure on offensively and defensively. Lilly played strong in goal earning the shutout. A full team effort on a solid win."

Meaghan Rudd it was her first career OCAA regular season victory.
Redeemer's young lineup controlled possession for most of the opening 45 minutes, outshooting Conestoga 11-2 (5-2 SOG).
In the second half, the Royals added some additional pressure, leading to the lone goal of the contest. In the 73rd minute, Redeemer was awarded a free kick outside the 18 yard box. Second year
Leah Sloots (Hamilton, ON) would bury home the free kick from 22 yards out just under the crossbar for her first goal of the regular season.
In her return to goal, after missing the past two games, fourth year
Lilly Brown (Stoney Creek, ON) registered five saves for her third shutout of the season. In four games this season, Brown has posted a 3-1-0 record with a 0.50 GAA and three shutouts.
The Royals next action is this Saturday, September 24th at 12pm when they host the No. 4 nationally ranked Humber Hawks at TIM HORTONS FIELD.
