OAKVILLE, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team opened the second half of the OCAA regular season with a 109-70 loss to the Sheridan Bruins on the road Wednesday night.
The Royals trailed by five at the half 50-45. To open the third quarter,
Adam Pavlik (Grimsby, ON) hit a jumper to put Redeemer within three, 50-47. Sheridan then put together a 28-2 run to go up 78-49 with just over two minutes left in the third on route to the 39-point victory.
Redeemer had two players in double digits, led by fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) who recorded 20 points and five rebounds and second year
Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) who added 12 points.
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON),
Blake Anderson (Hamilton, ON) and
Will Dykstra (Surrey, BC) all chipped in with six points each in the loss.Â
Sheridan had six players in double digits led by Johnny Despot who recorded 18 points, including 4-for-7 from long range. Jaidyn Dorman added 15 points while Dallas Francis contributed with 14 points. Rounding out the Bruins leaders were Travis Clouden, Mohamed Qasim and Taishawn Nelson-King who all chipped in with 11 points each in the win.
For the game, Redeemer shot 34.4% from the field going 22-for-64, 24.1% (7-for-29) from beyond the arc and 79.2% (19-for-24) from the free throw line. Sheridan went 42-for-86 (48.8%) from the field, 13-for-30 (43.3%) from long range and 12-for-15 (80.0%) from the charity stripe.
