Balanced offense leads Royals men's basketball over Canadore

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team defeated the Canadore Panthers by the score of 85–70 Saturday night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre. 

The Royals jumped out to an early 16 point lead and led 31-12 at the end of one quarter and 41-30 at the half.

In the third quarter, Redeemer closed out the final four minutes with a 14-3 run going up by as many as 26 on route to their third conference win of the regular season.

Redeemer had four players in double figures, led  by fourth year Blake Anderson (Hamilton, ON) who recorded 16 points and four rebounds. Fourth year Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) registered 13 points while first year Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) added 12 points. Rounding out the Royals leaders was third year Armeen Fazelipour (Richmond Hill, ON) who collected 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the victory.

Leading Canadore was Onguene Bechti who led all scorers with 26 points, 12 rebounds and five three-pointers.

For the game, Redeemer shot, 46.6% (34–73) on the field, 30.0% from beyond the arc and 88.9% (8–9) from the free throw line. Canadore went 25–60 (38.5%) from the field, 11–20 (39.3%) from three point land and 9–14 ( 64.3%) from the charity stripe.

The Royals return to action January 18 when they take on the Niagara College Knights at 8 PM on the road.
