ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer men's volleyball team (7-3 OCAA) opened the second half of the OCAA regular season with a 3-2 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers Wednesday night in front of an electric crowd at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
Leading the Royals was the duo of third year
Brett Jenkins (Peterborough, ON) and first year
Derick Breukelman (Burlington, ON). Jenkins led all scorers with 15 kills, five digs and four aces and while Breukelman contributed with 12 kills and seven digs.
William Winkelhorst (Newcastle, ON) added nine kills and nine digs while second year setter
Andrew Van Dyke (Guelph, ON) handed out 42 assists and added five digs. Second year libero
Carsen Grim (Langley, BC) led all players with 12 digs.
Mohawk was led by Anthony Beijes and Joel Sloots who chipped in with nine and eight kills respectively. Setter Peter Pilling finished with 28 assists.
For the match, The Royals registered 48 kills with 25 errors on 103 attempts for a .223 hitting efficiency. The Mountaineers added 38 kills with 25 errors on 88 attempts for a .148 percentage.
The Royals return to action Saturday afternoon when they take on the Niagara College Knights at 1pm on the road.
