Ancaster, ON – The Redeemer University women's volleyball team (6-6 OCAA West) swept the Cambrian Golden Shield by the score of 3-0 (25-22, 29-27, 25-21) Friday night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
The Royals offense was led by second year
Rachel Annett (Melbourne ON) who recorded 12 kills and 16 digs for the double double. First year
Avery Surette (Barrie, ON) contributed with seven kills and six digs while fifth year
Victoria Pancucci (Stoney Creek, ON) added seven kills. Second year libero
Brooklyn Van Rooyen (Acheson, AB) finished with 30 assists. Second year libero
Carlene Cecchelli (Hamilton, ON) collected eight digs in the victory.
Leading the Golden Shield was Brielle Chicoine who recorded 11 kills and six digs in the loss.
For the match, Redeemer hit .217 adding 43 kills, 18 errors and 115 attempts. Cambrian finished with 30 kills, 19 errors and 98 attempts for a .112 hitting percentage.
The Royals next action is Saturday, January 21 at 1 PM, when they host the Boreal Vipers at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
