ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University women's basketball team fell to the number three nationally ranked Humber Hawks by the score of 76-53 Saturday afternoon at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
Humber went on a 18-4 run in the opening 10 minutes and held a 23-point lead at the half 40-17.
In the second half, the Royals came out shooting playing the Hawks tough throughout the final 20 minutes, including winning the fourth quarter 16-13.
Redeemer had four starters and double figures led by second year
Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, ON) who recorded 16 points, 11 rebounds and three assists while going 6-for-9 from the field. First year
Julia Stayshyn (Dundas, ON) registered 12 points, 12 rebounds and four assists while first year
Talia Vreugdenhil (Frankford, ON) added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Rounding out the Royals offensive leaders was fourth year
Jessica Angelini (Hamilton, ON) who added 11 points and seven boards in the loss .
The Hawks had four players reach double digits led by Brittney English who recorded 17 points four rebounds and three assists for their league leading 12th victory of the regular season .
As a team, Redeemer shot 35.4% (23-65) from the field, 27.3% (3-11) from beyond the arc and 80.0% (4-5) from the free throw line. Humber went 30-82 (36.6%)s from the field, 9-31 (29.0%) from three point land and 7-7 100% from the charity stripe. The Royals won the battle on the glass 58-34.
