Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Redeemer women's volleyball downs Mohawk 3-1

ANCASTER, ON - The Redeemer University women's volleyball team defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers by the score of 3–1 in the opening game of Super Saturday at Redeemer Athletic Centre.

The Royals, took games one and two by scores of 25,22 and 25–22. Mohawk won game three by the score of 25–11 and in the fourth set Redeemer came from behind to win 26-24.

Redeemer's offense was led by Alanna Heidbuurt and Rachel Annett. Heidbuurt collected nine kills, nine digs, six aces and three blocks for 18 points.  Annett finished with 10 kills while Alyson Stolte added four kill, five blocks and one ace for 10 points and a .571 hitting efficiency. Libero Carlene Cecchelli chipped in with nine digs.

In her Royals debut, first year setter Alana DeJong recorded 30 assists, six digs, two aces, two kills and one block.

For the match, Redeemer registered 34 kills with 17 errors on 91 attempts for a .187 hitting percentage. Mohawk collected 39 kills with 24 errors on 100 attempts for a .150 hitting percentage.

The Royals return to action on Wednesday, November 22nd at 6pm when they host the Niagara College Knights.
