Ancaster, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team dropped a tough 92-89 decision to the Conestoga Condors Wednesday night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
The Royals led 44-39 at the half and went up by as many as 17 points (64-47) with three minutes left in the third quarter. Early in the final frame, Redeemer held an 11-point lead (72-61) before Conestoga's Rylan Ninaber knocked down four straight three-pointers, leading his team to victory.
Redeemer had a balanced offense led by fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rocherster, NY) who recorded 16 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Fifth year
Blake Anderson (Hamilton, ON) contributed with 16 points while second year
Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) added 11 points, including 3 three-pointers. Third year
Armeen Fazelipour (Richmond Hill, ON), third year
Will Dykstra (Surrey, BC) and fourth year
Steven Adeyemi (Las Vegas, NV) all chipped in with nine points each.
Conestoga was led by OCAA leading scorer Ladera Ujullu-Obang who recorded 22 points and seven rebounds in the victory.
For the game, the Royals shot 44.8% (30-67) from the field, 42.1% (8-for-19) from three-point land 80.8% (21-26) from the free throw line. The Condors went 35-87 (40.2%) from the field, 11-43 (25.6%) from long range and 11-16 (68.8%) from the charity stripe.
The Royals return to action Tuesday, February 7th when they host the Fanshawe Falcons at the Redeemer Athletic Centre. Tip-off is 6pm.
