Ancaster, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team came up with a much needed 101-86 win over the Fanshawe Falcons at the Redeemer Athletic Centre Tuesday night.
Redeemer came out on all cylinders putting together a 21-6 run in the opening seven minutes. Fanshawe closed the lead to 11, trailing 27-16 after 10 minutes. In the second quarter the two teams exchanged baskets with the Royals leading 53-44 at the half.
In the third quarter, it was much of the same as they played even 27-27 with Redeemer holding a nine point lead, 80-71 after 30 minutes. In the final frame, the Royals held a 93-83 lead with three minutes left in regulation, before closing out the game with a 9-3 run for their fourth win of the regular season.Â
Leading the way for the Royals was first year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) who finished with a career high 26 points going 10-for-18 from the field. He also pulled down seven rebounds. Fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, ON) contributed with 20 points and seven assists. Fifth year
Blake Anderson (Hamilton, ON) added 18 points and six rebounds while third year
Kian Durno (Georgetown, ON) (10 points), third year
Adam Pavlik (Grimsby, ON) (8 points 7 rebounds) and fourth year
Armeen Fazelipour (Richmond Hill, ON) (6 points, 9 rebounds) closed out the team leaders.
Fanshawe was led by Josh Loblaw who recorded 25 points and Aidan Whalen who collected 17 points in the loss.
For the game, Redeemer shot 48.4 (31-64) from the field, 31.6% (6-19) from three-point land and 86.8% (33-38) from the free throw line. Fanshawe went 31-81 (38.3%) from the floor, 4-23 (17.4%) from long range and 20-25 (80.0%) from the charity stripe.Â
Redeemer is on the road this weekend when they take on the St. Clair Saints and Lambton Lions. The last regular season game is February 15th when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers on Senior Night.
