Redeemer men's basketball falls to Saints 96-86

Windsor, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team dropped a 96-86 decision to the St Clair Saints Friday night on the road. With the loss, their record drops to 4-12.

The Royals trailed by six points, 55-49, going into halftime.

In the third quarter. The Saints put together a 16-2 run to go up 71-51 with four minutes remaining, and led 80-65 after three quarters. In the final frame, the Royals would rally back with a 12-2 run of their own to make it 87-82 with 3:46 left in regulation. Down the wire, Redeemer went just 1-for-5 from long range as St. Clair knocked down 3-of-4 free throws in the final seconds to secure the home win.

Leading the Royals was second year Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) who had a career game registering 22 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double to go along with his five assists. First year Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) added 14 points while third year Wil Dykstra (Surrey, BC) added 10 points in the loss.

The Redeemer starters were held to 29 points but got some strong offensive production from the bench.

For the game, Redeemer shot 51.6% (32-62) from the field, 34.5% (10-29) from beyond the arc, and 80.0% (12-15) from the free throw line. St. Clair went 36-76 (47.4%) from the field , 7-25 (28.0%) from three point land and 17-20 (85.0%) from the charity stripe.

The Royals return to action Saturday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. when they take on the Lambton Lions on the road .
