Ancaster, ON - The Redeemer University men's basketball team knocked off the No. 7 Nationally ranked Mohawk Mountaineers by the score of 101-89 on Senior Night in front of a capacity crowd at the Redeemer Athletic Centre.
The Royals jumped out to a 21-13 lead in the opening seven minutes and led 23-18 after one quarter. In the second quarter, Mohawk cut the lead to three, as Redeemer held a 45-42 lead at the break.
In the second half, Mohawk took the led 51-50 early in the third quarter, before the Royals responded with a 20-7 run, to go up 72-58 with one minute remaining. They held a 12 point led 74-62 after 30 minutes.
In the final quarter, Redeemer extended their lead to 16, 83-67 with just under seven remaining in the game. Mohawk battled back to bring it within eight, 93-85 with a minute left, but the Royals went 8-for-8 from the free line to close out the contest.Â

Leading the Royals offense was first year
Parker Davis (Hamilton, ON) who registered 25 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Fourth year
Isaiah Brinkley (Rochester, NY) contributed with 18 points and five rebounds while third year
Armeen Fazelipour (Richmond, ON) recorded 15 points and 13 rebounds for the double-double. Off the bench, second year
Robert Mannella (Burlington, ON) added 10 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists while
Adam Pavlik finished with 10 points shooting 71.4% from the field.
For the game, Redeemer shot 46.4% (39-84) from the field, 25.0% (5-20) from three-point land, and 90.0% (18-20) from the free throw line. Mohawk finished with 30.35 (27-89) from the floor, 20.9% (9-43) from long range and 72.2% (26-36) from the charity stripe.
The Royals clinch the 8th seed in the OCAA West division and will play a crossover game against the No. 3 Nationally ranked George Brown Huskies on the road Saturday, February 25.
