Redeemer men's volleyball falls 3-0 to Humber

Etobicoke Ontario - The Redeemer University men's volleyball team ended the OCAA regular season with a 3-0 loss to the Humber Hawks on the road Thursday night. With the loss, the Royals end the regular season with a 10-8 record.

Leading the Royals was first year Derick Breukelman (Burlington ON)  who registered 12 kills and four digs. Third year Brett Jenkins (Peterborough ON) collected nine kills, six digs and 2 serve aces. Rounding out the offensive leaders was fourth year William Winkelhorst (Newcastle, ON) who added three kills and 11 digs and second year Patrick Belisle (Hamilton, ON) who contributed with three kills, three digs and two blocks. Second year libero Carsen Grim (Langley, BC) added 17 digs as he surpassed head coach Eli Tolkamp for second in Redeemer single season digs with (221). Second year setter Andrew Van Dyke (Guelph, ON) added 27 assists to his school single season best finishing with 646 for the 2022-23 regular season. 

Jenkins closed out his final regular season with one of the top single season performances in school history finishing with 51 aces, 229 kills, 133 digs and 20 blocks, while becoming just the 3rd player in school history to record 300 points in a single season finishing with 301.

For the match, the Royals recorded 30 kills with 11 errors on 86 attempts finishing with a .221 hitting percentage. The Hawks had a .365 hitting efficiency adding 39 kills with four errors on 96 attempts.

The Royals now await their OCAA crossover playoff opponent which is scheduled for Saturday February 18th.
