Etobicoke Ontario - The Redeemer University women's volleyball team ended the OCAA regular season with a 3-0 loss (19-25, 17-25, 22-25) to the No. 2 Nationally ranked Humber Hawks on the road Thursday night. With the loss, the Royals finish with an 8-10 divisional record.
Leading the Royals was second year
Rachel Annett (Melbourne ON) who finished with six kills and nine digs. Fifth year
Victoria Pancucci (Stoney Creek, ON) added five kills with a .625 hitting percentage while first year
Avery Surette (Barrie, ON) chipped in with five kills and seven digs. Rounding out the Redeemer leaders were first year
Kate DeJong (St,. Thomas, ON) (4 kills, 5 digs), second year
Alyson Stolte (Smithers, BC) (3 kills, 3 aces, 4 digs) and second year setter
Brooklyn Van Rooyen (Acheson, AB) (16 assists, 3 aces, 4 digs, 2 kills).
Annett ends the 2022-23 regular season with a career high 175 kills, which ranks 5th in the OCAA and moved her into 6th in Redeemer single season records.
For the game, Redeemer hit .226 registering 25 kills and 11 errors on 62 attempts. Humber, the top offense team in Canada, recorded 32 kills with six errors on 85 attempts for a .306 hitting percentage.
The Royals now await their OCAA playoff opponent which will be a crossover game on Saturday, February 18th.
