ANCASTER, ON The nationally ranked St.Clair Saints entered the Den Saturday afternoon. The Saints are having an exceptional year that finds them second in the OCAA with a 10-3 record. The Saints returned the majority of their starting line-up from the previous season and have made outstanding developments in the off-season. The Saints finished last season with an 8-10 record. The drastic change of their season outcomes is truly a testament to their dedication and coaching development. The Saints will continue to look shock the OCAA as they strive for a deep playoff run.
Redeemer needed to display their depth and young talent as they face several key injuries. The Royals do not fear these injuries as this season the team has one of the deepest rosters of talent and skill the program has had.
Both the Royals and Saints embody a similar serving philosophy. This serving tactic involves highly aggressive serving that is unfortunately accompanied by plenty of missed serves. Aggressive serving is a common tactic among many of the top teams in the country but not all. This philosophy was on full display in this match as they Royals and Saints combined for 17 aces in 3 sets.
The Saints were in control this match as they secured the victory in 3 sets. The Royals struggled to get the ball past the Saints blocking. St. Clair is a physical team that has produced several excellent blocking middles who find their way to pester the Royals offense.
