ANCASTER, ON. In a nail-biting showdown in Kitchener, ON, the Redeemer Royals fell to the Conestoga Condors 61-55. The Royals entered Wednesday's road match searching for their first victory of the year. All three Royals matches were competitive, but have slipped away in the last minutes.
Redeemer trailed the Condors by one point following the first quarter of play. The Royals bounced back and dominated the second quarter which saw them enter halftime with a three-point lead 34-31.
Third quarter action got under way and the Condors bounced back. Conestoga capitalized on Redeemer turnovers accounting for 27 points off turnovers. The Condors strong third quarter tied the game at 47 heading into the final quarter.Â
Conestoga was able to pressure the Royals through the last quarter and capitalized on their opportunities to close out the game 61-55.
Leading the Royals offensively was
Sydney Drain. Drain posted 18 points and 4 steals. Heading up the defensive side of the ball was
Mia Palango. Palango recorded 10 rebounds 2 blocks and 6 steals.
The Royals fall to 0-3 on the year and will look to bounce back Saturday at Fanshawe College.
