ANCASTER, ON. Wednesday night was Pink Night at the Redeemer Athletic Centre. Pink Night is the Royals annual match to raise awareness and donations for Breast Cancer Research. The Royals women's volleyball team sported custom pink jerseys that will be available for purchase.
The Royals welcomed the Fanshawe Falcons to the Redeemer Athletic Centre looking to build off of last matches victory. The Royals entered the first set rolling with the momentum of pink night and dominated the first set. Redeemer finished the first set 25-16.
Entering the second set the Falcons had settled into the match and pushed the Royals. Rallying through the competitive set, Fanshawe damped the pink night atmosphere by stealing the second set 25-23.
The Royals were led by outside hitter
Avery Surette who posted an incredible 23 kills. The dynamic left side was all over the court for the Royals, Surette tallied on 5 aces and 11 digs.
Rallying behind Surette, the Royals bounced back in sets three and four to capture the match 3-1. Following closely behind Surette was
Alanna Heidbuurt. Heidbuurt posted 16 points for the Royals.
Redeemer improved to 2-1 on the season and now has a two-game win streak. The Royals next match is Saturday, November 2nd when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers.
