Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Royals Secure OCAA West Fifth Seed in Loss to Hawks

ANCASTER, ON.  Redeemer men's soccer travelled to the Ontario Soccer Centre to face off against the CCAA #1 nationally ranked Humber Hawks. The Royals, currently in a battle to secure a home-field playoff match, desperately need every point to climb the rankings.

The Humber Hawks had a statement performance on this Tuesday night's match-up. The Hawks were in control for the full ninety minutes of action. Humber opened the scoring in the twentieth minute and continued to build from there. The Hawks beat the Royals three-nil.

Redeemer soccer looks to Saturday afternoon when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers. Senior night will occur Saturday afternoon before the match to honour and celebrate the men's soccer graduating athletes.

The Redeemer Royals have secured their place in the OCAA playoffs locked in as the West fifth seed. However, the Royals can play spoiler on a cross-town rival, the Mohawk Mountaineers who sit in the last playoff spot. Mohawk must beat the Royals to jump into seventh place and avoid the number-one-ranked Humber Hawks.

The Playoff Picture:

The Redeemer Royals men's soccer team awaits their playoff opponent to be determined. Redeemer will face either the Conestoga Condors or the Sheridan Bruins. The Condors trail the Bruins by four points with a game at hand to finish the season. The Royals had strong performances against both teams in the regular season.

The Royals first-round opponent will be finalized this Saturday October, 12th.

Be sure to come out this Saturday for our Senior night celebrations taking place before each match.
