ANCASTER, ON. Redeemer Royals women's volleyball welcomed the undefeated St. Clair Saints to the Redeemer Athletic Centre Saturday afternoon. Following the Royals win less than twenty-four hours earlier, Redeemer looked to add another and climb the standings.
St. Clair came out firing in the opening set. The Saints attacked exceptionally well all match long. They controlled the play at the net and ran a cohesive offence. The Saints stormed to a 2-0 lead over the Royals.
Saints setter Emma Clements was a key to their success. Clements recorded 39 assists on the match.
The Royals bounced back in the third set and cut the lead to 2-1. Leading the way for the Royals was
Joelle Lammers who had 13 points on the match.
St.Clair answered in the fourth and picked up their ninth win of the season. Redeemer displayed their ability to play with the top teams in the province and have been knocking on the door of an upset.
Redeemer is back in action next weekend as they travel to Sudbury to face the Boreal Vipers and Cambrian Shield. These are the Royals last two matches before the winter break. Cambrian and Redeemer are fifth and sixth in the OCAA West standings, and Saturday's match will be crucial to come out on top.
