Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Real Deal Royals Soar Past Falcons

ANCASTER, ON.  Redeemer women's soccer is off to the greatest start in program history. The Royals currently sit in the top three of the OCAA West having beaten both teams with them. The Royals looked to continue their excellence as they hosted the Fanshawe Falcons on Saturday afternoon.

The Royals have had a knack for quick goals and today was no different. Royals star midfielder Emily Walraven scored a stunner from 40 yards out in the third minute. Walraven continues to climb the ranks in the all-time scoring leader boards adding two this season.

Fanshawe clawed back and could fend off the Royals who held possession in the Falcons half for the entire opening 45 minutes.

Redeemer remained persistent with the offensive pressure and opened up the second half of action with two goals. Redeemer defender Adriana Kansiek found the back of the net off a free kick. Shortly after, sophomore sensation Joelle Mitton added her fourth goal of the year to give the Royals a 3-0 lead.

Redeemer maintained control for the last 40 minutes of play and clinched the three points up for grabs. Redeemer now sits in a tie for 1st place in the OCAA West with a 5-1 record.

Royals midfielder Ivana Kanisek had a phenomenal week on the pitch. The fifth-year talent posted 6 points (2G 2A) on the week. Redeemer will look to her to help close the regular season at the top of the table.
