SARNIA, ON. Redeemer Men's Basketball travelled to Sarnia to face the Lambton Lions. The Royals picked up a massive home opener victory in their first match-up against Lambton.
The Lambton Lions opened the match strong out-scoring the Royals 28-20 in the first quarter. The key to Lambton's early success was their ability to control the glass. Lambton recorded 12 rebounds in the first quarter to Redeemer's 6.Â
Quarter number two followed a similar story to the opening frame. Lambton extended their lead to 43-34 by halftime. Lambton continued to dominate the glass in the opening half and capitalized on their second-chance opportunities.Â
Redeemer made excellent halftime adjustments and stormed into the third quarter. The Royals cut the Lions lead to six heading into the final frame.
The Royals hit their final gear in the fourth quarter and out-scored Lambton 12-6. Saturday's match needed overtime to decide the winner.
Parker Davis scored 10 of the Royals 13 overtime points but were ultimately beat 80-77.Â
Redeemer will look to bounce back on Wednesday when they host the Mohawk Mountaineers.
