ANCASTER, ON. The Redeemer Royals welcomed the Cambrian Shield Friday night. The Shield sit near the top of the OCAA West Division and have had impressive showings against the best in the province.
The first set action was tight. The Royals and Shield traded runs throughout the opening set but neither could gain significant separation from the other. Backed by their efficient attacking, the Shield secured the first set victory 25-22.
Redeemer adjusted in set number. The Royals improved the attacking efficiency and established several service runs in the second set. Redeemer soared to a set two win 25-18.Â
All tied 1-1 Redeemer had the RU Royal Family at the edge of their seats entering the third set.Â
The Shield played spoiler in set number three as they hit a phenomenal .636%. Cambrian's impressive efficiency followed by the Royals unfortunate inefficiency had the Shield take set number three 25-13.
Redeemer continued to struggle in set number four and allowed the Shield to take control early. Cambrian found themselves with a significant lead late in the set and closed the door on the Royals. Cambrian took the final set 25-14, and the match 3-1.
